Transforming Eyebrows: My Personal Journey

From Over-Tweezed to Naturally Beautiful

Eyebrows have always been a big part of my life—sometimes more than I wanted them to be. Like many of us, my brows have gone through quite a transformation over the years. Let’s just say, they’ve been all over the map.

In my younger years, I had no idea how to shape my brows properly. I started with a unibrow, which I quickly overcorrected by tweezing them into tiny, thin lines. At the time, it felt like the right thing to do, even though deep down, I questioned if I was going too far. I remember wondering if this look would turn out the way I wanted it to, and if anyone would notice how bad it looked. Well, as it turns out, it wasn’t the look—at least not one that was sustainable or flattering long-term.

The Thick Brow Phase

After realizing my thin brow phase was a mistake, I swung in the opposite direction. Thick, dark brows were in, and I was all in. I bought every product and shade I could find to give myself those bold brows every day. But anyone who’s gone this route knows that thick, dark brows don’t just stand alone—they require a full face of makeup to balance them out. So there I was, in college, filling in my brows and doing a full face of makeup every day.

But still, I questioned. Are these the brows I want long-term? What do other people think? Is this routine bringing me peace, or is it just feeding my fixation on my brows?

The Turning Point: Brow Theory

Everything changed when I began studying esthetics and learned about brow theory—yes, it’s a thing! Brow theory considers the natural features of your face, like bone structure and facial symmetry, to determine where your brows should start, end, arch, and even how thick they should be. This was a game-changer for me.

My brows had been through it with years of random torture, leaving them uneven and directionless. But once I understood where I had gone wrong, I decided to make it right. I stopped tweezing my brows—seriously, I barely tweeze now compared to the daily tweezing under a bright, magnified light (which, by the way, NEVER get a magnified makeup light—it’s just not worth it). I started using various serums and remedies to help regrow the hair I had lost. Slowly but surely, my brows started to come back, but it was a long and sometimes painful journey.

Finding Peace with Your Brows

My experience has taught me that brow maintenance should be simple, sustainable, and something that brings you peace—regardless of current trends. If your brows are driving you crazy, it might be time to make a small adjustment or stop doing something altogether.
